PicoScope 2200 Series User guide

With the PicoScope 2200 range (2204, 2205, 2206, 2207, 2208) of Entry–Level PC Oscilloscopes you get an oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer and arbitrary waveform generator all in one powerful and affordable device.
These compact, inexpensive oscilloscopes have all the power you need for your application, whether it’s design, research, test, education, service or repair. They are available with bandwidths from 10 MHz to 200 MHz and offer the features and performance of scopes that are several times their size — and their price.

Unparalleled performance

The PicoScope 2200 range includes the first USB–powered oscilloscopes capable of sampling at one gigasample per second. Previously such high sampling rates were only available on mains–powered scopes, and never available on entry–level devices. For repetitive signals the sampling rate can be increased to as much as ten gigasamples per second using equivalent–time sampling. These high sampling rates combined with the ability to store up to 40,000 samples in the scope’s buffer memory and analogue bandwidths of up to 200 MHz make the PicoScope 2200 range suitable for use in a wide variety of applications.

A complete test and measurement lab

Your PicoScope 2200 is not only a powerful dual-channel oscilloscope: using the same PicoScope software for Windows that comes with our high-end scopes, you can also use your PicoScope 2200 as a spectrum analyzer, signal generator and arbitrary waveform generator (AWG). Using PicoLog you can also transform your PicoScope 2200 into a data acquisition tool that can log data over extended periods of time.

Convenient and fast

The PicoScope 2200 range of USB oscilloscopes obtain their power from the USB 2.0 interface, so there’s no need to bother with batteries or an external power supply. The USB port also delivers high–speed data to your PC to give you a responsive, high–resolution display.

Sophisticated oscilloscope software

Unlike other low–cost oscilloscopes that may be supplied with software that has limited functionality, the PicoScope 2200 range of USB oscilloscopes are supplied with the same PicoScope software for Windows that comes with our high–end scopes. This gives you the same software features and functions that are available for scopes costing a lot more money, and should you wish to upgrade to a higher–spec scope in the future you will be able to do so seamlessly.

PicoScope is powerful yet easy to operate. You benefit from the power of the PC, and the familiar Windows interface and controls, making the software easy to learn and easy to use on a daily basis. Data can be saved in a variety of formats including CSV text, PNG and GIF images and MATLAB binary files. A software development kit (SDK) containing drivers and example code is also provided so you can develop your own applications or use your PicoScope oscilloscope with third–party software such as LabVIEW.

PicoScope software is regularly updated with feature extensions and improvements. These can always be downloaded for free from our website and ensure that your oscilloscope will always have the latest features and enhancements — all without costing you another penny.

Spectrum analyzer

With the click of a button in PicoScope you can change from the time domain to the frequency domain and use your PicoScope oscilloscope as a spectrum analyzer. A full range of settings give you control over the number of spectrum bands, window types and display modes.

Function generator and arbitrary waveform generator

All PicoScopes in the 2200 oscilloscope range feature a built–in function generator. With this you can generate standard waveforms such as sine, square and triangle from a library of stored waveforms. You can also define your own waveforms using the power of the built–in arbitrary waveform generator (AWG).
